What’s the favorite thing you’ve made?

Well… It is complicated. I have done many things, but one that I think it is useful is a “set-up” aimed to home automation. It was just a mini-computer (a Raspberry Pi) that was connected to the network and also to a standarized Home Automation System, called KNX. The idea was to have this standard more open-sourced, letting users do more of it.

Furthermore, as I was also a roboticist, I used a humanoid robot to control the house by interfacing it with the user by using speech recognition and face recognition.

What’s the most frustrating object you’ve used?

Many things caused me frustration, but one thing that happened me recently was using a capacitive pen (the like of s-pen from samsung) that was constantly detecting my palm.

What do you personally hope to get out of this class?

I really hope to have a better understanding not only of HCI per sé, but also the future of tangible interfaces, of how the digital world can cross the boundary of the physical one, a point where both meets.

How can you contribute to the class?

I have relatively experience in the HRI field, as I was involved in the leadership of a group of engineers and roboticists for an international competition. I have a background in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Analog and Digital Electronics, and PCB design. Aside from the electrical part, I want to let the creativity inside me to come out in order to create amazing projects related to HCI and new forms of crossing the digital and physical boundary.
