Prints on Fabric
For this project I used an inkjet printer to print directly on fabric. I first ironed the fabric onto plastic-backed freezer paper, then cut it out to the size of printer paper. The first fabric I tried - plain woven white cotton - did not go through the printer well. It printed about half of the test page, then crumpled up inside the printer, resulting in a horrible screeching noise and an error message. On my second attempt, I chose a thinner, smoother cotton which worked much better:
I printed a black and white version of a picture I took a few weeks ago. Here's a close-up:

Next, I decided to try printing on top of an existing print. I chose a similar weight of cotton, this time with stripes, and printed another black-and-white picture:

Overall, this technique was fun and relatively easy. When I have more time, I want to try editing a scan of an existing printed fabric, then printing it back onto the fabric to get a 3D look.
