Handwoven Bookmark Summary
This woven bookmark features a black warp and a variegated yarn weft. The change in color of the yarn leads to a pleasing pattern on the bookmark.

Construction
I chose this weaving project because I was intrigued by loom design and automated industrial weaving. By tying the 15 black threads to one skewer stick and then 8 of the alternating ends to the other skewer stick, I built a small loom out of skewer sticks which I suspended from a chair. I then laid the yarn used for the weft across the loom and then pulled the warp through the warp which was tied to the skewer and over the weft. I then laid the weft yarn on the other side of the warp and repeated. When I was satisfied with the size of the bookmark, I tied the ends of the warp together as I removed the piece. I knotted the ends together until I was sure it was secure and braided the ends.
