Experience
My five year MEng in Product Design Engineering gave me a varied experience of making and fabricating a wide range of things, from shoes that walk on water to smaller to rapid prototyping of limbs. I work well in groups and can visualize ideas quickly on paper. I am confident using Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Solidworks.

Why
I'm particularly excited by gestural user interfaces and wearable computing. I want to create products and experiences that are so well integrated, the users feel like superman. My background in product design engineering (industrial design and mechanical engineering) would allow me to create user centered design experiences integrated with the aspects of the Tangible Interfaces course. I find the work of Professor Ishii amazing, and I'd like to learn more about it and his approach to design and engineering. Last year I created a series of prosthetic limbs for a young woman born with no forearm. My goal was to create a prosthetic arm that she would want to wear and which others would want to interact with. The final result was a prosthesis that responded to touch using differences in light intensity and colour which were programmed with an arduino. I would love to be able to further develop the software/interaction side of this project and similar ones.
