Experience
I am coming directly from undergrad at Stanford University where I worked as a research assistant and teaching assistant in the Transformative Learning Technologies Lab for the last year and a half under the supervision of Paulo Blikstein. My work in this lab strongly centered on my project/creation MagneTracks; a description (and more in depth paper) of which can be seen here: http://tltl.stanford.edu/publications/papers-or-book-chapters/magnetracks-tangible-constructionist-toolkit-newtonian-physics I ended up doing a 47-page honors thesis not including the code of works cited section. This thesis required me to dig deep into the literature that supported what I was doing as well as to create and run studies on children. It required me to go through multiple iterations of the design using rapid prototyping and it required me to do so in a cost efficient manner. I also took a class under Wendy Mackay titled Prototyping Interactive Systems in which we covered a range of design techniques including but not limited to: video brainstorming, design spaces, branching scenarios, paper and video prototyping, interaction tables, co-adaptive instruments and generative walkthroughs. I was in a group of 3 and we worked on a game on the Kinect for autistic kids in which they could work on both identifying and expressing their emotions. The final prototype video can be seen here and is about 4 minutes long: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdbgAEY3zh0

Why
As an undergrad I was fortunate enough to attend and present at Tangible, Embedded and Embodied Interaction (TEI 2012) conference in Canada. There I saw many of the up and coming technologies used throughout all fields. I was specifically interested in the ones that were used to motivate , engage, and educate the general population. My focus in this class is to design and implement another tangible interface that encourages learning.
