Irmandy Wicaksono

Hello!
I am Irmandy, a new grad student at the Conformable Decoders, MIT Media Lab. I’ve graduated from a Master programme in EE at ETH Zurich and spent most of my research there at the Wearable Computing Group. My research involves the design and development of unconventional types of electronics, some of which are stretchable so that they conform to the curvy structure of our skin or bio-compatible for implantable applications.
I really think that new materials and nano/microfabrication technologies, especially in MEMS will push forward new generations of tangible interfaces and make all of our dreams possible (via smart dust or claytronics). By taking this course, I would like to, in the future, leverage my experience in fabricating microscale sensors-actuators and explore their applications in HCI. I hear a lot about the term “ubiquitous computing”, but I believe that its ultimate vision will not be entirely accomplished without its backbone, ubiquitous electronics. So let’s work together!
